Breast enlargement

A predisposition towards small breasts may be congenitally acquired, but sometimes the size of the breasts also decreases after pregnancy or substantial weight loss. In surgical breast enlargement small breasts are augmented with silicone implants and slightly drooping breasts are tightened. In the case of marked sagging or asymmetry in the nipple area, breast augmentation may be combined with a breast lift or nipple correction.

BREAST ENLARGEMENT SURGERY
The surgery takes one to two hours and is carried out under general anesthesia. Stitches are removed after two weeks and a special bra must be worn for the following three months. During this time, it is recommended to avoid breast-straining sports such as jogging, horseriding or swimming.
BREAST IMPLANTS
Silicon implants have been in use since the 60’s and are considered safe. We utilize only the highest quality of breast implants from Mentor. Although these are very durable, we recommend replacing them after a maximum of 20 years.
BREAST ENLARGEMENT RISKS
Provided it is conducted properly and high quality implants are used, breast enlargement is a very safe procedure. In addition to general risks after surgery such as postoperative hemorrhage, infections and impaired wound healing, the specific risk of breast enlargement is capsular contracture, a capsular formation around the implants. This results in an altered shape and consistency of the breast. Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict such risks in the individual patient in advance. However, since implants have become “textured”, the incidence of capsular contracture has decreased greatly.
